John January
Guitar, Vocal
Guitarist and singer John January is known far and wide for his energetic performances, virtuoso guitar and fat slide playing. John is also honored as a great Blues artist in the Blues Hall Of Fame, and is a Billboard Magazine Award Winning songwriter.
Entertaining audiences coast to coast and from Canada to Central America, John has performed alongside Curtis Salgado, with members of The Steve Miller Band, Sha Na Na and Nine Inch Nails and worked with producer Joe Marlett (Foo Fighters, Seal, Blink 182).
As the leader of the critically acclaimed January Berry Band, the album Chemistry 101 was nominated for best blues in the 2018 San Diego Music Awards. The album also charted on the International Blues Broadcasters Charts among “the most played” in 2018.
As a guitarist for the all-star band Little Monsters, as well as Michele Lundeen And Blues Streak, John learned the specialty of putting on exciting shows; mentored by Lundeen and sax great Walter Gentry.
John self-produced his newest album TRUE, mixing the blues with topical lyrics and the synergy of a seasoned and muscular band. John‘s goal was to bring Blues to current day concerns while maintaining respect for the self expression of the tradition.
Pam Rowen
Keyboard, Vocal
Pam Rowen developed her bluesy keyboard and vocal chops within a diverse mix of musical genres and venues, bringing exciting solos and flavor to her collaborations with the John January Band.
After playing professionally with San Diego jazz flutist, Lori Bell, Pam landed in the Denver area where she got into the hotel circuit playing piano bar. In addition to the solo gig, Pam put together some of her own groups from pop to jazz. She played keyboards for X-Static,with blues singer Tommy Thomas, and The Walter Bembry Jazz Partners. She was a founding member of the all-female R&B group, She Groovez, actively headlining the stage for festivals in the Denver area and surrounding areas. Pam also was an active member of the Swinging Seven Swing band (later becoming the Swing City Band, led by Dave McCullough) an the Randall Dubis band as finalists 2 years running in the International Blues Competition.
Returning to the San Diego area Pam played with The Doug Phillips Atomic Blues Band, and the R&B, funk band Phunky Matters.
